My Story

It’s time to slow down, focus on your mind, body, breathe, and focus on you.

That was what I told myself 11 years ago before I fully transitioned from my corporate role into yoga teaching and training.

I had young children at the time and was working in the human resources side of a major Canadian corporation. For many years I’d loved this work, but increasingly it seemed that the projects I was involved with were draining and challenging for my mental health.

Yoga isn’t new to me. I’d been practicing yoga since my time in university, more than 15 years in fact.

I love how yoga calms your mind, increases your body awareness, and is truly beneficial to your body and mind.

In 2012, I enrolled in an 8-month training program and obtained my yoga instructor certification.  It was at this time I decided to change the pace of my life and teach yoga full time.  I told myself that I would try this for a year.

It’s been 10 years and I haven’t looked back - I’ve officially been a yoga instructor ever since!

Beginning in 2013, I ran a boutique yoga studio in Toronto that was connected to a Wellness centre.

People came to the classes because they needed to reduce stress or realized they needed and wanted to feel fit. And I was able to get to know everyone!

The small-sized group classes allowed me to talk to each client individually to find out if they were new (or experienced!) with yoga, and how I could help them feel comfortable.  We’d also discuss the right poses to protect against any injuries/ailments or health concerns that they were dealing with. The practical hands-on experience I learned from my clients was invaluable.

I also continued to deepen my theoretical knowledge as an instructor; taking more courses, specializing in different modalities, attending workshops with renowned teachers in North America. What I learned I would integrate back into my classes and interactions with my clients.

However, the in-person yoga world took a turn because of COVID-19, and sadly I had to say goodbye to my studio in late 2020.   But with a pivot to online group + private classes.   And now it’s been an integration of the two worlds! In-person teaching combined with the online platform that we’ve grown to appreciate!

When you are part of my yoga practice, you are part of a shared safe open safe. I provide a warm inviting atmosphere where you can release the tension in your body and mind and just be in the moment for the duration of the class. Yoga made simple and enjoyable. It’s focused time on YOU.
